Goodbye 2023

It’s currently 1 am, and I am writing this after spending the last three days stuck up in my bed, watching a 59-episode cdrama where the main couple dies at the end. Needless to say, I am not happy. I am filled with tears and anger. I mean, why subject me to the emotional rollercoaster of a 59-episode drama only to conclude it with the characters sacrificing themselves to save the world? Shey the world dey craze ni?

This writeup should have reached you earlier, but I felt compelled to finish that drama and get some full closure before writing to you guys. Not that I got the closure or any of this information concerns you all, but I needed a place to rant aside Twitter or whatever that app is called these days.

Few hours to 2024 and… whew! What a year! I want to reflect on the craziness that was 2023. While I’ve pretty much said a few things about how my 2023 went, I want to bid the year a proper goodbye and create something like a journal. I honestly can’t seem to recall any notable personal achievements I had this year, and my memory seems to go blank after October. Scary, because I think my brain is fried.

If you feel like you didn’t accomplish much this year, don’t panic! I probably did worse than you did.

On a personal level, the year zoomed by so fast that I can’t seem to remember or pinpoint any significant individual milestones. Let’s rewind through my photo albums on how the year went:

January: Kicked off the year in a clinic, pleading with my lungs to please let me breathe and silently praying for more smiles in the new year.

February: Resumed vlogging, adopted a healthier lifestyle by taking lots of greens, smoothies, and cinnamon tea. Learned how to make homemade popcorn and returned to work.

March: Birthday month, Jimin of BTS dropped the most cunntiest album. My birthday arrived and because I didn’t want to feel shitty, I went on a museum and amala date with my mum and sis. Looking back now, I hated that day and still can’t figure out why.

April: Back at the clinic, ulcer acting up, eyes getting teary, malaria kicking my soul but hey, I found the best shawarma joint in Abuja.

May: Switched to cheaper skincare products (worst decision I made this year actually). Had a burger breakdown on the 8th of May for no reason at all (Twitter moots know what I’m talking about) Tried baking cookies for the first time with a microwave, came out looking like burnt mashed potatoes.

June: Bestfriend birthday, hit 100 subscribers on Youtube, Got my Jimin Face album birthday gift from Priscilla (Best girl fr!) Seun is back home with an ear piercing (okay ma’am, since you’re grown now). My first platform shoe is also here and it’s freaking pretty. Favorite month, I think.

July: Wale’s birthday, Seun is back in school and I’m back at the clinic, lungs acting up again hehehe. The BTS book is here and I’m also back on Youtube.

August: Massive acne breakout on my face (it was itching like mad) skincare products are in the bin because hey… they are all fake. Turned into Wale’s official personal stylist (Ignore this when you see it, Wale). Tried baking cookies again and it came out well except it’s as strong as a rock. My lemon chicken video blew up on IG for a minute. Notable mention- The end of Yoongi’s tour.

September: Breakouts worsened, back to the dermatologist like the prodigal daughter that I am. Spent over 200k on chemical peel and new skincare products (Still hurts my chest whenever I think about that money). Made a lot of meals for reels, but didn’t post them sjskjs. Misplaced my favorite dark shades but hey… we are at 130subs on YouTube.

October: Whew… there is WORK at home. Underwent a chemical peel. My face looks like I have been slapped by my demons, can’t take a step outside. Found a new breakfast recipe, and made shawarma for the first time. (P.S. Never use tortilla wraps to make shawarma). My face has cleared up. Braided my hair myself for the first time, and it came out so well. Went back to writing after taking an unintentional four-month break.

November: It’s Seun’s birthday, saw an eye doctor cause my eyes won’t stop acting up. Wale is home after so long. Went shopping numerous times and by far my favorite vlogging month. The Amala at Lagos Bistro tastes so good.

December: Seun is back at school. Wale is also back at work. The BTS boys have fully enlisted. Slept all through Christmas. Sleeping all through the new year. My life is boring. The end.

Looking back, it’s apparent that I didn’t do much this year, and for some reason, it’s irking me. (na just food I chop this year omg) but we thank God for life cause shit ain’t easy.

Instead of drowning in regret and blame because who regrets help? I choose to move forward, learn from my experience, and set the stage for a more fulfilling 2024. (inserts firework gifs)

I’m going to do so much in 2024 and the thought of it alone scares me. I have so much in store for myself, waiting to be unleashed. And I hope you do too. Let’s make the most of 2024 together.

Happy New Year loves❤️

Let’s write a lot in 2024

Cry less, fall in love, eat a lot, and prioritize your happiness.

Manifesting a beautiful and fulfilling 2024 for all of us.

2024 is our year fr fr🤍

Need to start journaling monthly next year because my brain shouldn’t be this fried when I’m just 17.

Okay byee
